About the Role
Crusoe is looking for a Director of Accounting to own accounting, cost accounting and financial reporting for its manufacturing business. You'll report to the Corporate Controller and lead a multi-site team of 8+ and act as the accounting partner to Manufacturing leadership. You'll also build the cost, inventory and control infrastructure the business needs as production grows to meet demand for Crusoe's AI infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, build and develop a team of 8+ across multiple manufacturing facilities. Set the team's structure, hiring plan and development path as the business grows.

  • Act as the primary finance partner to manufacturing leadership (operations, supply chain, engineering, quality and procurement). Turn plant and assembly metrics into financial insight and decisions.

  • Drive financial accountability across operations by setting cost targets, tracking performance and influencing decisions on capacity, make-vs-buy, sourcing and pricing.

  • Advise executive leadership on product and program margins, cost-reduction opportunities and the financial impact of design, material and process changes.

Cost Accounting & Inventory

  • Own the cost accounting framework, including standard cost methodology, the annual standard-setting process, overhead absorption and labor rates.

  • Set and oversee inventory accounting policy, including valuation, WIP, high-value long-lead components, reserves and excess/obsolete inventory. Own the cycle count and physical inventory programs across all sites.

  • Lead analysis of manufacturing variances (purchase price, usage, labor, overhead), yield and productivity. Turn the results into actionable cost-improvement initiatives.

  • Own new-product and new-program cost estimates and margin modeling in partnership with Engineering and Sales.

Close, Reporting & Controls

  • Be accountable for a timely, accurate month-end close for the manufacturing entity. Present results, key drivers and risks to the Controller, CAO and operations leadership.

  • Ensure US GAAP compliance and own the manufacturing control environment, building it out to a SOX-ready, audit-ready standard. Serve as the primary contact for external auditors on manufacturing and inventory matters.

  • Lead the manufacturing entity's annual budget and rolling forecasts, working with FP&A.

Systems & Scale

  • Act as the accounting owner for the ERP manufacturing modules (BOMs, routings, work orders, costing) and lead system improvements and implementations.

  • Design, document and continuously improve scalable processes, with a focus on automation, as new facilities and product lines come online.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA or CMA required.

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in manufacturing or cost accounting and 3+ years leading teams (including managers).

  • Proven ownership of standard costing, inventory valuation and variance analysis in a complex, multi-site manufacturing environment.

  • Deep experience with ERP manufacturing modules (BOMs, routings, job and work-order costing). ERP implementation experience is a plus.

  • Experience with complex inventory, such as WIP, engineered-to-order or high-value long-lead components.

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls. SOX, public-company or Big 4 experience is a plus.

  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.

  • High operational credibility: comfortable on the factory floor and able to influence senior operations and engineering leaders.

  • Track record of scaling teams, processes and systems in a high-growth environment.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation and equity packages

  • Restricted Stock Units

  • Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs

  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance

  • Employer contributions to HSA account

  • Paid parental leave

  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
