Are you an Accounts Receivable or Credit professional who sees a repetitive process and immediately starts thinking, there has to be a better way to do this?

We’re looking for an Accounts Receivable & Reporting Specialist to join Canfor’s Finance Shared Services team. This is an opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in A/R, Credit or Collections who also enjoys working with data, building better reports and finding smarter ways to get work done.

You’ll still be close to the day-to-day business, managing collections and working directly with customers, but you’ll also have the opportunity to strengthen reporting, improve data quality and help modernize how the Credit team works using various tools.

If you’re strong in Excel, comfortable working with customers, and curious about reporting, automation and continuous improvement, this could be a great next step.

What You’ll Do

Own Your A/R Portfolio

  • Manage collections for an assigned customer portfolio and proactively work through overdue accounts.
  • Build positive customer relationships while confidently working through payment issues, disputes and collection challenges.
  • Investigate the root causes behind payment variances and account issues rather than simply moving them along.
  • Partner with internal teams and external customers to resolve more complex collection and credit issues.
  • Support credit monitoring, customer records, credit exceptions and related controls.

Turn Data Into Better Information

  • Develop, maintain and improve operational reports and dashboards for the Credit team.
  • Produce recurring and ad hoc reporting on A/R performance, collections, customer payment trends, disputes, deductions, DSO and other key metrics.
  • Dig into reporting discrepancies and data-quality issues to understand what’s happening and why.
  • Validate reporting against source data and provide practical analysis that supports business decisions.

Help Us Work Smarter

  • Look for opportunities to simplify and improve A/R and Credit processes.
  • Use Excel and reporting tools to strengthen workflows, controls and reporting.
  • Build your capability with tools such as Power BI, Power Automate and Microsoft 365 Copilot as the team continues to evolve its reporting and automation practices.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects, reporting enhancements and process improvements.

What You’ll Bring

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Data Analytics or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Credit, Collections or a comparable finance environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience creating meaningful business reports.
  • Experience contributing to reporting, process-improvement and/or automation initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through data and identify discrepancies.
  • Confidence communicating with customers and internal partners, including when conversations require tact, persistence and problem-solving.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive, curious mindset and genuine interest in learning new technology and improving the way work gets done.

Even Better If You Have

Experience with any of the following would be a strong asset:

  • Power Query
  • Power BI
  • Power Automate
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot
  • Microsoft Fabric
  • JD Edwards or another ERP system
  • Data visualization or process-improvement tools

Work Environment

This position can be based from Canfor’s Vancouver Head Office or Canfor Administration Centre in Prince George. Canfor Corporate follows a hybrid working model with a three-day in-office requirement.
